The marketing department at KCADC is an in-house agency, working with internal and external clients to amplify and elevate the KC region to key audiences globally in new and unique ways. As Managing Director of TeamKC, you will lead one of our top marketing initiatives. A collective of human resource, talent acquisition, workforce and community partners, TeamKC (TKC) positions the Kansas City region as a top destination for talent, focusing on the following areas:

  • Building awareness for KC as a top destination to live and work.
  • Expanding talent attraction and retention strategies to support KCADC investors.
  • Driving thought leadership and placemaking innovation in the region through collaborative leadership.
  • Furthering a competitive advantage in KCADC’s business attraction, and investor retention and engagement efforts.
Housed within KCADC’s Marketing Department, the Managing Director of TeamKC will oversee direction and implementation of the initiative's key areas of focus, ongoing integrated marketing strategy and community relationships.

Knowledge of the marketing and talent acquisition industries, ability to build trust with business leaders, balance competing priorities and thrive under self-direction will make you a great fit for the KCADC team.

What You’ll Be Doing: This position contributes to KCADC and TeamKC in three key ways: strategy, relationships and marketing.

Strategy:
  • Serve as the leader of TeamKC in all aspects of the initiative including development of strategy and budget with oversight of marketing, communication, programs, special projects and day-to-day operations.
  • Oversee fundraising and budgeting for TeamKC including event-specific sponsors, attracting and retaining KCADC corporate memberships and special projects.
  • Work cross-functionally as a leader within KCADC’s business attraction team as an expert on talent attraction, relocation and workforce development to locate companies to the KC region.
  • Oversee the TeamKC Advisory Board composed of talent acquisition leaders within the KCADC investor companies.
  • Develop strategic priorities for TeamKC with guidance from the initiative’s Advisory Board.
  • Implement key projects focused on talent, awareness and innovation to achieve TeamKC goals.
  • Understand and engage in new developments, programs and initiatives created by local and state economic development organizations and related talent attraction and lifestyle marketing groups.
Relationships:
  • Establish and maintain strong, mutually advantageous relationships for TeamKC including KCADC investor companies, industry leaders, community, groups, etc.
  • Work with KCADC investors across the region to build an ecosystem that ensures continued growth of the initiative.
  • Maintain ongoing engagement and communication with the TeamKC network and partners.
Marketing:
  • Oversee all TeamKC branding, events and communication.
  • Create customized resources and tools to support business attraction projects.
  • Plan and execute TeamKC networking, outreach and engagement events.
  • Serve as spokesperson in local and national media outreach to amplify the KC region strengths out-of-market.
  • Act as publisher of annual KC Options magazine and its digital edition; drive editorial content, messaging development and advertising sales opportunities with KCADC’s publishing partner.
What We’re Looking For:
  • Candidates will have a bachelor’s degree in marketing communications, journalism, public relations or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience working within a full-service marketing agency, public relations firm, a corporate communications team, or in a talent acquisition role.
  • Knowledge and connection to the KC region’s talent acquisition industry preferred.
  • Exceptional writing skills, and experience with all types of media writing.
  • A portfolio of relevant marketing and communications work showcasing your experience.
  • A strong team mentality in a fast-paced environment with great interpersonal skills.
  • Self-starter with strong organization skills and ability to prioritize and complete multiple projects and assignments to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to jump in and help however you’re needed while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Proficient in social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, podcasts and blogs.
  • Strength in Microsoft programs (Word/Excel/Outlook).
  • Familiarity with virtual meeting platforms (Zoom/Microsoft Teams/WebEx/etc.)
  • Experience with a variety of digital media tools.
  • KCADC’s preferred platforms include: Sitefinity, Eventbrite, Click Dimensions, Metricool, Trello and Google Analytics.
