Nightlife

Shopping, dining, professional and collegiate level sports teams, city landmarks and attractions, all accessible – and affordable – in the KC-region. However, if you’re still looking for ways to liven up the night, here are a few tips:

Kansas City is known for the hopping First Fridays in its Crossroads Arts+Design District. However, First Fridays are not your only chance to explore and experience nightlife in the Crossroads. Also located in the heart of KC is KC Live! in the Power & Light District, a solid block of restaurants, bars and entertainment venues, all with entrances accessible from within the covered area.

The Country Club Plaza isn’t just a shopper’s paradise. A mix of intimate dining, sports bars, “hipster bars,” coffee shops and more await your discovery. Historic Westport has undergone a renaissance, and is now home to a wide variety of micro brews, nightclubs, sports bars and even a Champagne bar.

Being a college town, Lawrence is primed and ready for twenty-somethings looking to kick back with a brew or two. Not only is there a variety of bars, there are also multiple venues for live music and dancing. Most can be found in the heart of Lawrence’s downtown area along Massachusetts Street.

There are many LGBT friendly establishments throughout the region ranging from polished cosmopolitan to cowboys and leather, from drag shows to dance clubs.

Along with the KC-area’s expansive dining options, unique bar scenes and live music venues, there are many other ways to spend a night on the town. Many comedy clubs in the area, including Kansas City Improv, Stanfords Comedy Club, and Kansas City Improv Co., have weekly shows. The casinos are always open for business. KC casinos include Ameristar, Harrah’s, Argosy, Hollywood and Isle of Capri.

Check out KC Options magazine for in-depth reviews on the above districts, and hidden gems all across the KC-region. Don’t be afraid to explore!
