WELLNESS WEDNESDAY |GRATITUDE

Did you know a daily practice of gratitude improves your physical health?

TAKE TIME TO UNPLUG … Swap out the news and social time for a daily dose of gratitude journaling.  Eliminating social media use doesn’t seem to be realistic in a world that almost demands it. So the question becomes how you can use your social accounts in a more elevated way, more mindfully, and with a greater respect for who you truly are. Here are three ways you can assess how you use social media, and engage with it in a more beneficial way with regard to your well-being and happiness.”

DAILY NEWS AND SOCIAL DETOX
Let’s give this a try. For 30 days -- don’t reach for the electronics, social media, or news -- until 8:00 a.m. Then shut it all down at least one hour before bed. Instead, grab your gratitude journal and jot down how you feel headed into your day and how you sleep at night. I’m guessing you’ll be getting more zzzzz’s.

GRATITUDE AS MEDICINE | GRATITUDE AS PRACTICE
“Find a way to focus intently on those things in your life that bring you the most joy, the most inspiration, the most nourishment—body, mind, and spirit—and consciously cultivate gratitude for all that there is to be grateful for. There is little doubt that this sort of uplifting, connective energy is needed on the planet—now more than ever—and practicing gratitude may just change your life for the better.”
- Melody Mischke, Banyan Botanicals

THE 5-MINUTE JOURNAL
This 5-Minute Journal is filled with pages for gratitude journaling; inspirational quotes; and weekly challenges. It’s a favorite.

RECIPE OF THE WEEK: KALE CHIPS w/ PINE NUTS
“Ayurveda recommends a daily dose of leafy greens to support purification, hydration, and life-supporting energy or prana. These nutrient-packed, spicy kale chips are baked making them easily digestible for that slow, Kapha coal-fire digestion.”

  • What's a churna? It's a mixture of powdered herbs and spices that support your dosha.
  • What's your dosha? Although a thorough assenement with an Ayurvedic practioner is the best way to determine your dosha ... take this VPK Dosha Quiz to get you started.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK:
“This is a wonderful day. I’ve never seen this one before.” -Maya Angelou

Don't forget to breathe. Namaste.
