The University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) is a public university with two campuses in the Kansas City area, with 16,000 students enrolled and an average class size of 26. With these small class sizes, students are able to get more personalized and engaging learning experiences. Of the school’s more than 135,000 alumni, over 40% live and work in the Kansas City region.

Not only is the university teaching its college students, but UMKC has also partnered with many high schools to offer dual credit classes. By doing so, the next generation is able to get a head start on their college education, leading to an earlier introduction to the workforce.

Supply Chain Emphasis

For students interested in industrial logistics, UMKC offers a business administration major with a supply chain management emphasis. This emphasis was launched in 2020 and is growing, with new courses being added every year. Enrollment is expected to increase as course offerings grow.

The supply chain emphasis at UMKC is set apart from competitors due to its connection to the industry through a roundtable of local professionals. At this roundtable, industry partners give input on what skills are needed in the field. Based on the input, the team at UMKC is able to continually evolve the program curriculum. This, combined with participation from industry partners, allows UMKC students to stay up-to-date on the latest industry trends, granting them a significant advantage upon entering the workforce.
