KCADC Career Opportunity | Marketing Intern

Length of Internship: Summer 2023 (with potential for extension)

Time Commitment: Full-time

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Compensation: $15/hr

Location: In-person at KCADC Offices (KC Union Station)

Description:

At the Kansas City Area Development Council (KCADC) we’re not just a nonprofit, we’re the sales and marketing team for the Kansas City region. We work every day to position KC as a top business and lifestyle destination, and we create innovative strategies to attract companies and people from around the world. 

Our team is pretty great at what we do. Ranked the No. 1 regional economic development group in the country, we’re recognized internationally for our innovative marketing and business development strategies. The marketing department at KCADC is an in-house agency, working with internal and external clients to amplify and elevate the KC region to key audiences globally in new and unique ways.  

As a marketing intern, you’ll dive in on day one. You’ll ideate and create content across a variety of platforms to showcase KC’s top industries and highlight the best of our region’s lifestyle. You’ll be a part of our national branding campaign called KC Heartland, create and attend top events across the region, and meet some of the coolest people who call our city home.

If you’re a go-getting disrupter looking to sharpen your storytelling skills and add real work to your portfolio, this opportunity is perfect for you.


Projects you’ll support: 

  • Content development for a variety of KCADC’s brands across TikTok, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and Facebook
  • Monthly tracking and analysis of social media metrics   
  • Ideation and execution of blog content across KCADC initiatives 
  • Maintenance of website copy and imagery using CMS platform (Sitefinity) 
  • Drafting and building of e-communications through a mass email platform (ClickDimensions) 
  • Creation of programming for KCADC’s regional intern program 
  • Editorial assistance for KCADC’s annual publication KC Options magazine 
  • Logistics support for a variety of events

What We’re Looking For: 

  • A current student or recent graduate pursuing marketing, public relations, communications or related field
  • A portfolio of relevant marketing and communications work showcasing your experience
  • Exceptional writing skills, and experience with writing for a variety of different audiences
  • Experience creating short-form video content for TikTok and Instagram Reels 
  • Proficiency in social media platforms like Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook
  • Strong organization and ability to prioritize and complete multiple projects and assignments to meet deadlines
  • Ability to jump in and help wherever needed while maintaining attention to detail
  • Familiarity with virtual meeting platforms (Zoom/Microsoft Teams/WebEx/etc.)
  • A strong team mentality in a fast-paced environment with great interpersonal skills
