WELLNESS WEDNESDAY | FEED THE SOUL

by Jauqui Craig | May 06, 2020

Health and wellness nuggets to feed the soul ... one day at a time.

COMMUNITY HEART STORIES | GIVING BACK IS SOUL FOOD
Man … our  KC community is so full of heart! And giving back feels oh - so - good!
Here are a few ways you can participate in the circle of giving back.

Chef Collective KC has launched The Community Meals Project -- “A civic scale plan to meet our ever-expanding, ever-changing community food needs” by employing restaurant teams, meeting the needs of an insecure food community, and working to “improve local chef-led restaurant stability.”  How can you give back? Support the supporters and spread the word!

KC Runs on Hospitality | Buy a shirt … Support a hospitality worker
Swag with a purpose. 100% net proceeds of KC Runs on Hospitality shirt sales go directly to locally owned restaurant employees.

GUIDED 4-7-8 BREATHING PRACTICE | TO FEEL EASE IN UNEASY TIMES
Join Ksenia Avdulova (Woke and Wired Podcast) and Dr. Andrew Weil in this guided breathing practice. “Of all the techniques and breathing practices I’ve found over the years, the 4-7-8 breath is the most effective anti-anxiety, anti-stress thing you can do.” - Dr. Andrew Weil
And while you’re at it, check out the Woke and Wired podcast - “A new conversation about expanded consciousness and digital entrepreneurship.”

SHAKE OFF THE SLOG!
Join, Sarah Kucera, owner of Sage Center for Yoga & Healing Arts, Ayurveda Practitioner and Doctor of Chiropractic, for The Comeback, “a 5-day program to help you pick yourself up, shake things off and emerge from this better than ever.” The program includes 5 morning yoga and meditation practices, a 5-day meal plan and 5 days of journal prompts. I’m in! Let’s do this together!

DIVYA’S KITCHEN | AYURVEDIC RECIPES, COOKING CLASSES, AND MORE!
One of my favorite restaurants is Divya Alter’s Divya’s Kitchen, in Manhattan’s Lower East Side. Divya serves up the most amazing menu of Ayurvedic cuisine and teaches classes like Ayurvedic cooking for  boosting your immunity, what it means to be healthy from an Ayurvedic perspective and more!
Follow @divyaalter on Insta and sign up for her newsletter to get the skinny on live cooking classes and webinars.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK:
“In practicing meditation we’re not trying to live up to some kind of ideal -- quite the opposite. We’re just being with our experience, whatever it is.” Pema Chodron

Don’t forget to breathe. Namaste.
