Kansas City Region – This morning, the Kansas City Area Development Council officially welcomed Beth Soukup, chief financial officer for JE Dunn Construction, as senior co-chair of the KCADC Board of Directors. Soukup is joined by newly-elected co-chair David Hall, president of Hallmark Cards, and 17 additional new members for the 2019 board year.
“I’m really proud of the way KCADC has led the region over the last year,” said Soukup. “Our team is the best in the country when it comes to selling, marketing and branding. I’m proud to lead the KCADC board, and look forward to an exciting year ahead as we establish a new global identity for the KC region.”
Soukup and Hall will lead KCADC’s team of professionals to engage the world to invest in our OneKC region.
“I am pleased to work with KCADC to elevate the KC region, especially now when our work is so vital to the future of our city and region,” said Hall. “The things we accomplish together will help more companies make the choice to start here, settle here and stay here, strengthening the deep sense of pride for KC that we all feel.”
Soukup succeeds Chuck Caisley, senior vice president, marketing and public affairs and CCO of Evergy, who served as KCADC’s board co-chair for the past two years.
During Caisley’s two-year term as co-chair, the KC region gained $986 million in new investment, resulting in 5,600 new jobs. Notable announcements included numerous distribution related projects; 2 million-sq.-ft. for the location of Kubota distribution center in the region; the location of Biomin headquarters; and strategic locations for GEICO, Overstock.com, Databank and more.
KCADC also welcomed several new members to its board, including: Mayor Bill Baird, Lee’s Summit; Karrie Clinkinbeard, Armstrong Teasdale LLP; Chris DeVolder, HOK; Bill Ferguson, Central Bank of the Midwest; Penny Postoak Ferguson, Johnson County, KS; Spencer Fields, Willis Towers Watson; Steven Green, State Street; Brett Lewis, Grant Thornton; Ora Reynolds, Hunt Midwest; Brian Roberts, Lockton Companies; Harland Russell, Leavenworth County Development Corporation; Dr. Joe Sopcich, Johnson County Community College; Dave Tovar, Sprint; Dr. Elizabeth MacLeod Walls, William Jewell College; Mayor Eileen Weir, City of Independence; Richard Wetzel, Centric; and Cale Wilson, Terracon Consultants, Inc.
