MARSHALLTOWN TO OPEN $27 MILLION DISTRIBUTION FACILITY IN KC REGION

MARSHALLTOWN, recognized for supplying high-quality tools and products to major brands including Lowe's and Home Depot, announced its plans to expand its nationwide reach with a 200,000-square-foot distribution facility at Scannell Properties’ 435 Logistics Park in Kansas City, Kansas.

MEXICO'S FDI AND EV EXPORTS REACH HISTORIC HIGHS

The KC SmartPort team recently returned from IAMC International in Mexico City, meeting with several key partners, as well as gaining insight into Mexico’s foreign direct investment (FDI) and electric vehicle (EV) activity. Strategic investments in the automotive and manufacturing sectors have resulted in significant growth throughout Mexico.

The Numbers:

  • Mexico’s FDI hit a record high of $31 billion in the first half of 2024, with the U.S. contributing 44% of that total as Mexico’s top investment partner.
  • The manufacturing sector made up 54% of total investments in Mexico so far this year.
  • Mexico was the second largest EV exporter to the U.S. in the first half of 2024, shipping EVs worth over $3 billion, and is positioned to become the top exporter by the end of the year.

As a strategic North American logistics hub and home to major EV-related manufacturers, including Panasonic and TAB Battery, Kansas City stands to experience significant activity as Mexico’s investment and exports continue to grow.
