KC SmartPort Board Elects 2021 Leadership

Kansas City SmartPort has elected its 2021 Board of Directors and officers. The Executive Committee leadership will provide guidance and oversight to KC SmartPort, while the non-profit economic development organization continues to elevate the Kansas City region as a leading supply chain hub.

The 2021 Executive Committee includes:

  • Jim Roy, Vice President, Percipio Partners - Board Chair
  • Joseph Caldwell, Division Director, Bartlett & West
  • Tim Cowden, President & CEO, Kansas City Area Development Council
  • Sara Clark, Vice President, TranSystems Corp
  • Greg Topjon, Director of Sales, Wiese USA
  • Mike Mitchelson, Senior Vice President, CBRE
  • Chris Gutierrez, President, KC SmartPort

KC SmartPort determined 2021 objectives that support the organization's purpose of attracting freight-based companies, such as manufacturing, distribution and warehouses, to the 18 county, bi-state Kansas City region. The main objectives include job creation, capital investment, and community engagement.

In 2020, a total of twelve freight-based companies selected the Kansas City Market, creating 3,269 jobs and investing nearly $900 million. Read more about KC freight-based recruitment success.
