What is it about KC that makes it a great environment for creativity and the arts?
Kansas City has such a deep diversity in artistic talent and expertise. Artists alike in Kansas City understand the value of discussion and collaboration of ideas and projects. I have fallen head over heels in love with this city, because you can feel the excitement and energy for the arts just about everywhere you go. People are doing incredible things here, period.
What is your favorite spot in Kansas City?
Loose Park and the historic part of northeast Kansas City–those are my “wilderness” spots within the city. The River Market and Crossroads both offer a tremendous amount of culture, dining, art and great people.
Where’s your favorite place outside of Kansas City?
Probably the Seattle and Portland area. Pacific Northwest. Great culture, a different outlook and way of “doing” life there.
What’s your most treasured possession?
I don’t know. I don’t put a lot of value in personal possessions. I’m kind of like “the less things I have, the more comfortable I am” and feel like I could pack up and leave anytime. That’s how I like to live. Things come and go in this life and the things that you treasure should be those things that you hold within you.
Who do you most admire in real-life?
I tend to admire people who are forever pushing the limits and boundaries of what has been done before — people who go above and beyond all expectation and challenges.
When and where are you happiest?
When I’m alone. If I can find a slice of peace or get lost in my thoughts and my work. There’s a great deal of satisfaction in that.
