Shane W. Evans


Shane W. Evans, the 2012 Coretta Scott King Winner and 2011 NAACP Image Award winning artist, has lent his talents to almost 30 children’s books. His work has brought him recognition from the White House, with his invitation to the Nation Book Festival, to showcases on The Oprah Winfrey Show and The Late Show with David Letterman. Evans has worked with the likes of Holly Robinson Pete, Shaquille O’Neal, Taye Diggs, bell hooks, Deloris Jordan and Rosilyn Jordan, and published with the likes of Scholastic Inc., Harper Collins, Candlewick and Chronicle books, among others. His work in children’s books has been vast, ranging from the widely popular Shanna Show series that is now a Disney animated short along with the spinoff Shane’s Kindergarten Countdown to the successful trilogy of African American history Nobody Gonna Turn me round, nominated for an NAACP image award.
