Fast-Growing Tech Firm Selects KC for U.S. Headquarters

MindMixer cites KC’s strong IT workforce and cultural amenities as ideal for growing tech co’s.

 

April 14, 2014 - KANSAS CITY, Mo.— Omaha-based MINDMIXER has selected Kansas City, Mo., as the location for the firm’s national headquarters, creating 85 IT, software and programming jobs. MindMixer will consolidate the company’s offices in Omaha, Neb., and Lincoln, Neb., into the Kansas City office at 1627 Main, in the Crossroads Art+Design District.

“We’re a proud Midwestern company but in order to sustain growth we needed to be in a location with a skilled workforce that meets the needs of our high-tech business,” said Nick Bowden, chief executive officer and co-founder of MindMixer. “That’s where Kansas City comes in. This community already has an abundance of experienced workers and the talent pool only seems to be getting bigger.”

MindMixer evaluated multiple cities for the location of its headquarters, including Silicon Valley and Omaha, Neb. The Kansas City area was chosen for its urban setting, existing IT talent availability and ability to attract new tech talent.

The Kansas City Area Development Council partnered with a number of regional organizations to attract MindMixer to Kansas City including the Economic Development Corporation of Kansas City, Missouri; City of Kansas City, Missouri; The Missouri Partnership; State of Missouri – Office of Governor Jay Nixon; Missouri Department of Economic Development; KCP&L; Missouri Gas Energy; Metropolitan Community College; Jackson County,Mo. and KCnext – The Tech Council of Greater Kansas City.
