The Center for Automotive Research (CAR), an independent, non-profit, research organization focused on industry-driven research and analyses, provided a report on connected and automated vehicles (CAV) technologies. According to CAR, these technologies have the potential to improve safety, traffic congestion, and fundamentally change mobility around the world. CAV technologies allow vehicles to sense their surroundings and communicate with each other and the roadside to help prevent crashes, optimize traffic flow, and save time and energy.
