TeamKC Scouting Report | When you’re not feeling like yourself…

by Addie Linn | Sep 11, 2019

When you’re not feeling like yourself…
Reinvent, renovate, renew. Take a cue from KC phenomenon, Quixotic. This elite group of performing artists is transforming the semi-dusty Amercan Heartland Theatre into a venue for their new hit burlesque and cabaret show, “Sensatia Cirque Cabaret.”

When you’re feeling angsty…
Defy social norms with every sip of ‘Counter Culture’ IPA at BKS Artisan Ales in historic Brookside. This hoppy beverage was recently named one of “The 34 Hottest IPAs in America Right Now” and is sure to deliver notes of grainy goodness. Not an IPA stan? BKS is also known for their barrel-aged sours and Belgian inspired brews.

Where everybody knows your name…
Searching for the place? Hop on your favorite free public transport and head down to the Streetcar Grille at 16th & Main. Owners of the recently opened Crossroads neighborhood sports bar want to channel the energy of popular 80s sitcom “Cheers.” With 24 beers on tap and an array of menu items, it’s the perfect spot for a business meeting or ball game.

Let’s get this bread...
What to say when the grind never stops. Also, what the developers of Wonder Shops and Flats are saying as the project at 30th & Troost continues to progress. Reimagined, the historic Wonder Bread bakery offers a variety of affordable apartments and commercial space. Freight House Fitness, BikeWalkKC and a second location for the popular West Bottoms coffeehouse, Blip Roasters, are just a few new tenants. Swing by soon, it’s the yeast you could do.

If you’re cleaning out the closet…
Don’t ditch your lederhosen quite yet! Leawood is gaining a new gathering spot for traditional German food and brews. Ironhaus Bierhalle & Garten is open and ready for KC to relax on its patio while the weather’s still wunderschönen.
