Hayley is the founder and CEO of MADI Apparel - Make a Difference Intimate Apparel, a women's underwear line that donates a pair of underwear to a woman in need for every pair sold.
The elegant intimates are made in the U.S., out of organic bamboo. Hayley founded the company based on a single statistic: underwear is the most-needed and under-donated item of clothing in the U.S., and new underwear tops the most-urgent needs list of nearly every domestic violence shelter.
In her spare time, Hayley enjoys oil painting and adventuring with her two-year-old Doberman.
What makes KC a great environment for creativity and innovation?
I've lived and traveled across the nation and around the world. I've never experienced a community that comes even close to comparing to KC. Kansas Citians are proud and stick together - each person seems genuinely motivated to push one another toward his or her greatest potential.
When and where are you happiest?
Watching sunsets, swimming in the sea, climbing a mountain. Really, adventuring to places I've never experienced.
Where is your favorite place in Kansas City?
Driving down Ward Parkway during spring or fall when the leaves are so colorful.
Where’s your favorite place outside of KC?
The apartment I lived for a summer in Florence, Italy. It was tucked back and hidden behind a secret garden that I would paint in every morning.
What’s your most treasured personal possession?
My cherished family and friends. I truly treasure the time and laughter spent with them. I've been known to misplace most all material possessions, so I prefer keeping track of people instead.
Who’s your favorite fictional hero?
Elizabeth Bennet - Pride and Prejudice.
Who do you most admire in real life?
My parents. It's nice to see a loving marriage stand the test of time. It's also nice to know two people love you more than anything in the world!
