Northwest Missouri State University has provided high-quality, hands-on education since 1905. Founded as the Fifth District Normal School, Northwest has evolved into a state-assisted, four-year regional institution with 135 academic programs and a vibrant campus with 7,142 students and 750 faculty and staff. Among its many distinctive programs are education, business, science, and sustainable agriculture.

The campus includes the 46,679-square-foot Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, a mixed-use business incubator and academic research facility, featuring state-of-the-art research labs, office space, and a commercial analysis lab. Along with programming specializing in nanotechnology, the CIE provides entrepreneurial support to students, faculty and area industries. Northwest partners with the Nodaway County Economic Development and the Small Business & Technology Development Center to better serve business clients.
