Founded in 1871 as a normal school for the education of teachers, today the University of Central Missouri is a comprehensive university grounded in the liberal arts and fulfilling a statewide mission in professional technology. UCM is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
UCM is located about a 40-minute drive east of metropolitan Kansas City. It has an enrollment of more than 11,000 students who take advantage of course offerings in a traditional classroom setting and via distance learning. Its 150-plus academic degree opportunities include nationally known programs in criminal justice, aviation, education and safety, and the university prides itself in a 17:1 student-faculty ratio, where students have the opportunity to get to know their professors on a personal basis. Operating under the School of Graduate and Extended Studies, Workforce Central at UCM provides training, certificate programs, and development services for new-hire and incumbent workforce. Programs are delivered where the workforce development needs of our partners and the community exist. Specializing in learning solutions, UCM provides opportunities for individuals and organizations to succeed in a fast-paced, ever-changing knowledge economy.
Workforce Center offers programs at the UCM Summit Center in Lee's Summit, a 40,000 sq. ft. conference and meeting space that accommodates groups up to 150 persons.
