Wow, how time flies! Not too long ago we were planning the move of our office of 20 people to Union Station. The move date was December 20th, right before the holidays. Dianne Driver, our office manager, was in charge of the move, and I was responsible for the I.T. We knew the pressure was on to make it easy for our staff, and from the very beginning we were ready to dive in. Dianne had her charts and lists all in order to coordinate the creation of the new office and get all in order to move our existing office. I was ready to guide my I.T. group through the tearing down and installation of equipment. This was no small feat!
We worked out of boxes and figured out how to hook up our computers through our desks. We were configuring cabling, wireless access points and computer systems. We were scheduling and rescheduling work crews. It was one wild ride.
Now four months after we moved in, I’m sitting in my beautiful office and finally feeling settled. Our AV and phone equipment are all up and running smoothly. The servers and computers are running status quo and I haven’t dealt with an installer, maintenance or contractor in several weeks.
The boxes have been long gone and the workers have all moved on. I miss seeing some of those nice guys around the office, and am so thankful for their hard work and commitment to our project.
Thanks to Dianne, who has such an organized way of thinking, she kept everything and everyone on schedule. She made so many decisions that you would never even think about. Thanks to her our new offices make the kind of sophisticated first impression necessary for our clients and regional partners – even down to the beautifully decorated restrooms. Thanks to her we have a fully stocked kitchen and our workroom is neatly organized. The list goes on and on.
Union Station truly feels like home – and just like with any new home, the improvement projects never really end. We are so proud of our new space and look forward to welcoming all of our future visitors.
