KC Distribution Advantages
Location

Kansas City has several key components that make it an excellent hub for all transportation and logistics operations. Kansas City is the most centrally located major US market and is the focal point of movement and distribution of goods. Kansas City features low transportation costs and a wide range of logistics options. The map below illustrates all four major modes of transportation and how the Kansas City region is at the center of it all.

Kansas City is the largest rail center in the United States by tonnage and is served by every major rail company. It is also the heart of a rail corridor spanning coast to coast across the U.S. and extending from Canada to Mexico (NAFTA Railway).

Kansas City is located at the intersection of four of the nation’s major interstate highways which promotes unbeatable ground delivery times almost anywhere in the United States. Because of its central location, most any customer can be reached within a couple of days.

There is also the Kansas City International Airport, which moves more air cargo each year than any air center in a six-state region.

With the recent announcement of the Kansas City Port Authority reactivating the port, being located on the largest navigable inland waterway (Missouri/Mississippi River system) is a huge advantage.

There are a total of four intermodal logistics parks in Kansas City and more Foreign Trade Zone space than any other U.S. city.
